The external constraints of the imperial court and the self-requirements of envoys prompted the envoys of the Southern Song Dynasty to write a large number of notes of envoys to Jin Dynasty.Under the circumstances that the Song and Jin dynasties visited each other several times a year, their tasks were relatively fixed and their routes of diplomatic missions were basically the same, the envoys of the Southern Song Dynasty began to be perfunctory in their compositions, thus the successively created notes were copied much.Among them, many words in Zhou Hui’s"A Diary of the Carriage Driving Northward"and Cheng Zhuo’s"Record of Diplomatic Mission to Jin Dynasty"are suspected of copying from Lou Yao’s"A Diary of My Journey to the North"and Fan Chengda’s"A Diary of Pulling Reins".The perfunctory copying of these notes is not an exception, but rather a potential and tacit literary phenomenon of the times.
