外文期刊数据库使用绩效分级分类评价方法

Grading and Classification Evaluation Method for the Use Performance of Foreign Periodical Database

文章在分析外文期刊数据库使用特征的基础上,根据期刊使用量呈现出的幂律分布特征,按照帕累托最优法则确定期刊分级阈值,设计绩效计算公式,并以某高校12个数据库为例,将9679种期刊划分为核心、常用、有用、偶用、无用5个级别,根据绩效公式计算数据库的整体使用绩效,结果发现,数据库的使用情况与对应的学科建设发展现状相关。该方法先基于使用量分布特征将期刊分级分类,再按类评价使用绩效,较为科学地反映了数据库使用的实际情况,结果不但能定量评价外文期刊数据库,而且便于遴选期刊分类目录,助力高校图书馆外文期刊数据库订购决策和学科咨询服务开展。

On the basis of analyzing the characteristic of the foreign periodical database use, according to the power-law distribution characteristics of journal usage, the paper determines the periodical classification threshold in accordance with the laws of pareto optimality, designs the performance calculation formula, taking 12 databases of a university as an example, 9679 journals are divided into five levels of core, common, useful, accidentally use and useless, the overall performance of the database is calculated according to the performance formula.The results show that the use of database is related to the construction and development status of the corresponding discipline. This method first classifies journals based on the distribution characteristics of usage, and then evaluates the usage performance according to the category, which scientifically reflects the actual situation of database usage. The results can not only quantitatively evaluate the foreign journal database, but also facilitate the selection of journal classification catalogues, which is conducive to assisting the ordering decision of foreign journal database in university libraries and carrying out subject consulting services.
