Translation of“Jing”in Chinese Patent Medicine Instructions

本文考察目前中成药说明书中“惊”字的意义及英译。研究发现,“惊”字语义多样,其表达具有一定的互文性,但不够统一和规范,未体现明确的逻辑关系。“惊”字组合词语的英译具有明显的中医特点,但没有统一的标准,未准确传达原文语义,未明确词内逻辑关系,不够顺应英语语境。建议译者参考现行中英文标准和西药说明书,显化逻辑关系,提高表达准确性和统一性。

This paper analyzes the features and translation of“jing”-related TCM terms in Chinese patent medicine instructions.It is found that“jing”-related TCM terms in Chinese bear various meanings and show certain degree of intertextuality.However,the expressions lack uniformity and explicit logical relations.The translation manifests the TCM characteristics but fails to follow certain standards.Translators are suggested to improve the accuracy and uniformity of expressions according to the standards and norms.
