Thought and Revolution:A Study of the Jye-Min Memorial Library of Peking University During the Liberation War

孑民图书室是解放战争时期受中共北京大学地下党领导的、由北京大学学生创办的、以借阅革命文献为特点的图书馆。在其存在的短短一年半时间里,孑民图书室向北京大学学生及北平中学生群体广泛传播革命思想,加速了青年学生思想层面的革命化,掀起了一场群众性的学习马克思主义的运动,有力地配合了解放战争的进程。北平解放后,随着新的历史时期任务的变化,孑民图书室将全部藏书移交北京大学图书馆,成为北京大学图书馆的永久组成部分,也开始了其向知识传播机构回归的学术化历程。考察孑民图书室的历史,对于增进了解北京地区青年运动史、北京大学校史、以及图书馆的历史变迁具有重要价值。

The Jye-Min Memorial Library was led by the Branches of Peking University of the Communist Party of China and founded by students of Peking University during the Liberation War.It was characterized by borrowing Marxist books and disseminating Marxist ideas.In the short period of one and a half years of its existence,the Jye-Min Memorial Library has widely spread revolutionary ideas to the college students and the middle school students in Beiping,accelerated the revolutionization of the ideological level of young students,set off a mass movement to learn from Marxism,and effectively cooperated with the process of the Liberation War.After the liberation of Beiping,with the change of tasks in the new historical period,the Jye-Min Memorial Library handed over all its books to the Peking University Library,becoming a permanent part of it,and also began its academic process of returning to the knowledge carrier.The study of the history of the Jye-Min Memorial Library is of great value for understanding the history of youth movement in Beijing,the history of Peking University,and the historical changes of the library.
