On the Leading Role of Marxist Theory in the Establishment of Li Dazhao’s Political Belief

理解李大钊转变为马克思主义者的原因,既不能忽视时代条件的推动作用,也不能忽视马克思主义理论的引领作用。“五四”以前,李大钊矢志追寻的民族解放理想在现实面前陷入困境。与此同时,在《我的马克思主义观》一文发表以前,马克思主义的一些话语与方法已开始出现或渗透于李大钊的著述之中。李大钊初步掌握的马克思主义的观点和方法与他自身的思想诉求之间形成了内在自洽,从而引领李大钊从一个民主主义者转变为马克思主义者。李大钊对马克思主义的选择并不是单纯基于时势的情绪化选择,而是一种基于比较、批判和鉴别的理性化选择。

To understand the reasons for Li Dazhao’s transformation into a Marxist,neither can we ignore the driving role of the conditions of the times,nor the leading role of Marxist theory.Before the May Fourth Movement,the national liberation goal that Li Dazhao was determined to pursue fell into difficulty in the face of reality.Meanwhile,prior to the publication of the article My Marxist View,some Marxist discourses and methods had already begun to appear or permeate in Li Dazhao’s writings.The Marxist viewpoints and methods that Li Dazhao initially mastered and his own ideological demands formed an inherent self-consistency,which made Li Dazhao change from a democrat to a Marxist.Li Dazhao’s choice of Marxism is not emotional simply based on the current situation,but rational based on comparison,criticism and identification.
