Can Women Benefit More from Internet Use?——The Moderating Effect Based on Internet Use Preference

本文利用2010—2018年中国家庭追踪调查(CFPS)数据,考察互联网使用对性别收入差距的影响。研究显示,互联网使用能够带来工资性收入的提升和性别收入差距的缩小。通过Oaxaca-Blinder分解方法揭示了互联网使用中的性别特征差异和性别歧视。进一步研究发现,互联网使用偏好和教育机会的增加是使女性在互联网使用中获益更多的主要原因。农村户口和低收入群体的女性更能在互联网使用中获益。

This paper uses 2010-2018 China Family Panel Studies data to examine the impact of Internet use on the gender income gap.Studies have shown that Internet use can increase wage income and reduce the gender income gap.The Oaxaca-Blinder decomposition method reveals the gender differences and gender discrimination in Internet use.Further research has found that Internet use preferences and increased educational opportunities are the main reasons why women benefit more from Internet use.Women with rural household registration and low-income groups can benefit more from Internet use.
