手厥阴心包经作为中医针灸学理论当中人体经络系统的十二条正经之一,如今已得到学界的普遍认可与接纳,不过与另外几条经脉不同,其经历了一个从无到有、从缺失到完备的漫长过程。从《足臂十一脉灸经》与《阴阳十一脉灸经》中的模糊印象到《灵枢》当中的明确记载,再到后世医籍如《针灸甲乙经》《十四经发挥》《针灸大成》中的新发展,又有双包山人体经脉漆雕和老官山经穴髹漆人像上的新发现,以及越来越多的现代研究与发展,手厥阴心包经的系统内容和完整面貌已经逐步呈现出来。
