The Power of Museums:Sustainability——the 26th ICOM General Conference Academic Review

自2019年底新冠疫情席卷全球以来,博物馆行业进入最具颠覆性的时期。博物馆面临如何应对气候变化、环境问题、社会不均衡发展以及新冠疫情的影响,如何保持可持续发展和复原力,以及如何改变和适应以应对21世纪的挑战和需求等问题。为此,在2022年第26届国际博物馆协会布拉格大会期间,四个重要委员会于8月22日—23日举办主题为“博物馆的力量:可持续发展”的研讨会,集中讨论博物馆在建设自由、民主和文明社会方面的实力、地位和能力。世界各地140余位博物馆学者就学术热点问题展开广泛深入的讨论与交流,通过前沿经验分析、案例研究和多元思考,呈现了目前博物馆可持续发展研究的最新成果。

How can museums respond to climate change,environmental challenges,uneven social development,and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic as the museum sector enters its most disruptive era since the pandemic swept the globe at the end of 2019?How can they continue to be robust and sustainable?How can they adapt to meet the challenges and demands of the 21st century?To this purpose,on August 22-23,during the 26th ICOM General Conference in Prague,four important I COM committees(UMAC,NATHIST,ICME,and ICR) organized a conference on the theme "The Power of Museums:Sustainable Development".It concentrated on museums’ power,status,and ability to build a free,democratic,and civilized society.To present the most recent developments in museum sustainability research,over 140scholars from around the world were invited to discuss and exchange ideas on topical academic issues.The latest findings of museum sustainability research were presented through the analysis of cutting-edge experiences,case studies and diverse thinking.
