On the Differences Between Chinese and Western Euphemisms from Cross-cultural Perspective

委婉语广泛地存在于人类的交际活动中,有语言的地方就有委婉语,不同语言中的委婉语有着相似的特点和功能,但因世界文化的多样性又各有差异,拟通过跨文化视角来看中西委婉语的共性和差异性,以求使读者更准确地理解跨文化交际中出现的委婉语,避免由于社会文化不同造成的交际失败,为委婉语的研究提供参考。

Euphemism widely exists in human communication activities.Where there are languages,there are euphemisms.Euphemism in different languages has similar characteristics and functions,but it is different due to the diversity of world culture.This paper aims to study the similarities and differences between Chinese and Western euphemisms from cross-cultural perspective,so as to help readers understand euphemisms in cross-cultural communication more accurately,avoid communication failures caused by social and cultural differences,and provides references for the study of euphemisms.
