Research on Anti-smoking Campaign in Jiangsu Province during the Period of Nanjing KMT Government(1934-1937)

烟毒问题是近代中国社会的痼疾之一。南京国民政府时期,江苏省政府为肃清烟毒,尽量动员社会各界积极响应,从烟民控制、禁烟机构设置、社会治理等多个层面,开展了遍及全省、规模较大的禁烟运动。尽管江苏省禁烟运动最终未能完成根除烟毒的历史使命,但江苏省禁烟禁毒的成就和失误、经验和教训,为以后中国的禁毒工作提供了宝贵的历史借鉴。

The problem of tobacco toxicity is one of the chronic diseases in modern China.During the period of the Nanjing Nationalist Government,the Jiangsu Provincial Government tried its best to mobilize all sectors of society to respond positively to the eradication of tobacco,and launched a large-scale anti-smoking campaign throughout the whole province from the aspects of tobacco control,establishment of anti-smoking institutions,social governance and so on.Although the anti-smoking campaign in Jiangsu Province failed to complete the historical mission of eradicating tobacco drugs,the achievements and mistakes,experience and lessons of the anti-smoking campaign in Jiangsu Province provide valuable historical reference for China’s anti-drug work in the future.
