University students’innovation competition is increasingly valued by teachers and students, but there is a lack of research on the influence mechanism of university students participating in innovation competition based on the process view, which makes it difficult to obtain effective measures to guide students to participate competition actively.Based on this, this paper interviews 93 university students who have participated in the competition, constructs a model of the influence mechanism of university students participating in innovation competition from the perspective of process view with classical grounded theory. The results found that:college students participate in innovation competition need to experience the tortuous process of competition choice, competition and harvest;university students'participation conditions, personality tendency and ability cultivation demand influence their decision of whether to participate in the competition, competition system defects and participation experience influence students'enthusiasm for competition, and the experience of success or failure in the competition will also affect their intention to participate in the competition in the future;each stage of university students'participation in innovation competition is inseparable, all factors have a common impact on university students'participation in the competition, and some factors may play a role in the competition for many times.
