Iron deficiency anemia is one of the most prevalent nutrient deficiencies in the world, which seriously affects human health. Iron-carbohydrate complexes have become the research focus owing to their advantages of high bioavailability and low adverse reactions. This article reviewed the clinical application, research progress and development direction of ironcarbohydrate complexes, and introduced the research progress and trend of iron-carbohydrate complexes in detail, so as to provide reference for the research and development of new iron supplements.
