The gay’s wife dilemma and the double tragedy between the sexes presented in the novel Love as Soft as Water have not been well explored or paid attention to.Through a close reading of the text,focusing on two female images of the gay’s wife,analyzing the plot of gay’s wife and her husband’s marriage life,combined with the current research on“the gay’s wife”,it can be seen that the mental state of gay’s wife in marriage life will change from self-confidence and sunshine to worry about gains and losses,and fall into a dilemma of not knowing where to go from a clear self-positioning.Marriage becomes a war between a woman and herself,and the family becomes a tomb for the husband and wife.The gay’s wife group depicted in the novel provides a new perspective for the study of female images,and is also a unique way for other readers.
