Andrea Bruno(1931–)is an Italian architect of international repute in architectural heritage restoration. His restoration concept was shaped by his war experience in his early years and conservation practices in the Middle East.Having witnessed the destruction of human cultural heritage by wars,Bruno believes that conserving and extending memories is the essence of restoration, which is also the manifestation of the architect’s responsibility and morality when intervening historical buildings.Through a wide range of projects, including Castello di Rivoli,Musée des Arts et Métiers, and Maa Museum,Bruno shows how the architect’s work begins with restoration and goes beyond it.
