理雅各“以意逆志”新释中的译者主体性

Translator's Subjectivity in James Legge's New Interpretation of "Thoughts Meet the Scope"

“以意逆志”是由孟子首先提出的诠释学名词。从古至今,这一理念吸引了众多中外学者的目光。著名汉学家理雅各更是创造性地将这一理念运用于翻译实践中。近年来随着译者地位逐步回归,译界不乏对于“译者主体性”的探讨。笔者认为,“以意逆志”作用下译者思想意识的转变,以及翻译策略的自主选择,都是其译者主体性的体现,该文对此做进一步讨论。而译者发挥主体性多出于文化的考量。因此,笔者还探讨了此种创新性应用对于文化传播的启示,以期为新时代跨文化交际、中国文化“走出去”等发掘有益价值。

"To make the thoughts meet the scope"is a hermeneutic term first put forward by Mencius.Since ancient times,this concept has attracted the attention of many Chinese and foreign scholars.James,a famous sinologist,creatively applied this idea to his translation practice.In recent years,with the gradual return of the translator's status,there has been more discussion on"translator's subjectivity"in the translation community.The author believes that the transformation of the translator's ideology and his independent choice of translation strategies are the embodiment of the translator's subjectivity,which will be further discussed in this paper.As the translator's subjectivity is mainly based on cultural considerations,the author will also explore the enlightenment of this innovative application to cultural communication,in order to explore the useful value for cross-cultural communication in the new era and"going global"of Chinese culture.
