Compiling and Study of Kucha An’s Twenty Letters

新加坡国立大学图书馆现藏有周作人亲笔书信二十封,由新加坡商人许绍南保存,并于20世纪60年代捐赠给国大图书馆。周作人这批书信写于20世纪50年代初期,是分别写给友人苏乾英与龙榆生二人的,信中多有涉及到许绍南、陈之初的内容,因此信件被转交并保存在了新加坡。信中内容对周作人50年代初的生活状态及创作、翻译工作等多有涉及,书信风格依旧沿袭其小品文的风格特点。这二十封书信可以说是周作人个人生活、文学翻译、社会交往研究极为珍贵的一手资料,从中也可以看出周作人与南洋华人之间的交往和联系。

The National University of Singapore Library now has 20 letters written by Zhou Zuoren,which were preserved by Singaporean businessman Koh Siow Nam and donated to the library in the 1960s.These letters were written to Su Qianying and Long Yusheng by Zhou in the beginning of 1950s.The content of these letters are related to Koh Siow Nam and Tan Tsze Chor,so they were transferred to Koh and preserved in Singapore.Zhou’s living conditions,writing and translation are all reflected in these letters and the style of these letters are close to his essay.These twenty letters are precious first-hand materials for the study of Zhou Zuoren's personal life,as well as his literary translation and social connections,from which we can also see the communication and contact between Zhou and the Chinese merchants in Southeast Asia.
