摘要
西洋画尽管早在明代就传入中国,然而随着时代的发展,早期那种以碳粉模仿肖像为主的西洋画已经远远落后于时代的发展潮流。20世纪初一批粤籍美术家远赴海外求学,研究现代主义西画创作,他们学成归来后在广州推行现代主义西画观,举行西画展览更新社会上的绘画观念,并于1922年率先在广州创建美术学校,培养现代主义西画人才,更新广州的西画教育和洋画创作,并成为当时中国重要的现代美术教育中心,为华南乃至整个中国的现代美术教育发展奠定了根基,在中国现代美术教育史上涂抹了浓彩的一笔。
Although western painting was introduced into China as early as the Ming Dynasty,it fell far behind the development trend of the times as it mainly imitated portraits with carbon powder.At the beginning of the 20th century,a group of Cantonese artists went abroad to study modernist western paintings.After the return,they carried out the modernist western painting concept in Guangzhou by running a series of exhibitions of western paintings to update the painting concept in society and taking the lead in establishing an art school in Guangzhou in 1922 to train modernist western painting talents.As a result,the western painting education in Guangzhou was renewed and the creation of foreign paintings was reconstructed.In fact,Guangzhou Municipal Art School became an important modern art education center in China at that time,laying the foundation for the development of modern art education in South China and even the whole country,which is often regarded as the symbol in the history of modern art education in China.
