摘要
本文利用历史家谱记载与2010年人口普查微观数据,以1999年大学扩招作为外生冲击,采用队列双重差分法实证分析了宗族对农村居民受教育程度的影响。研究发现,宗族组织越发达的农村地区,居民因扩招带来的教育年限以及大学与高中入学率的增幅越大,当地的人力资本水平提高幅度越大。机制分析表明,以亲友经济帮助为主的非正式借贷对促进农村居民提高教育年限起到了重要作用,而重视教育的文化规范并未直接捕获此效应。
By exploiting historical genealogy records and the data of 2010 national population census,we use the difference-in-differences method to empirically analyze the impact of clan on the educational level of rural residents after the expansion of university enrollment since 1999.We found that in rural areas with stronger clan organizations,residents experienced greater increases in years of schooling and college and high school enrollment rate after the expansion of university enrollment.Mechanism analysis shows that informal lending from relatives and friends plays an important role in promoting rural residents to increase their years of schooling,while cultural norms that attach importance to education do not directly capture this effect.
