Supervisory relationship is one of the core issues in doctoral education research. It is found thatforeign research on doctoral supervisory relationship mainly has three analysis paths:the research on mi-cro academic interaction, the research on micro ethical relationship, and the research on academic in-teraction and ethical relationship from the perspective of social practice theory.Specifically, the research on micro academic interaction focuses on the influence of supervisory guidance and supervisor-studentinterpersonal relationship mode on the socialization process of doctoral students, while the research onmicro ethical relationship focuses on the different understanding of ethical issues between supervisors anddoctoral students and the ethical dilemmas they may face in the interaction.Under the social practicetheory, the research on academic interaction and ethical relationship shows the effect of structural forceson the practice of doctoral supervisory relationship from the perspective of"practice network",and alsogives insight into the power issues such as colonialism and neo-managerialism hidden in the practice ofdoctoral supervisory relationship from the perspective of"practice architectures".These three paths pro-vide inspirations for further research on Chinese supervisory relationship from the aspects of doctoral students academic socialization, doctoral students academic subjectivity and social practice theory.
