The Awakening and Development of Belarusian National Independence Consciousness in the Second Half of the 19th Century

19世纪下半叶俄国现代化改革与资本主义经济的发展刺激了白俄罗斯民族主义运动的开展,激发了白俄罗斯民族意识的觉醒。白俄罗斯知识分子通过书写本民族历史、发展民族语言和民族文学来印证白俄罗斯的民族文化特色与民族发展的独立性。但是早期的白俄罗斯民族意识因为历史发展、宗教文化和“俄罗斯化”政策的影响,带有明显的兼容性、脆弱性与不足。直到一战结束后,白俄罗斯人民共和国建立,白俄罗斯民族意识才真正形成。

In the second half of the 19th century Russia’s Capitalist Revolution stimulated the development of Belarusian nationalist movement and national consciousness.Belarusian intellectuals tried their best to promote the national independence of Belarus.They developed national history,national culture and its literature,which were directly linked to the formation of the Belarusian nation.However,the early Belarusian national consciousness had obvious compatibility,fragility and deficiencies.It was not until the end of the First World War that the Belarusian People's Republic was established,the Belarusian national consciousness was really formed.
