经学大家陈乔枞在江西任职期间,主持纂修了《弋阳县志》《袁州府志》等多部方志,他修纂合一,构建了系统的方志思想,这与其家族重视修志的传统有着一定的关系,更受其经学思想的影响。其修纂方志的目的,深受今文学家经世致用精神的影响;他以实事求是的修志态度,构建了恰当适宜的方志体例,且严谨审慎地对待纂修的方志内容。
