Tuber crop is an important food and economic crop in our country, which plays impor⁃tant roles in ensuring national food security, pro⁃viding industrial raw materials, and promoting so⁃cial and economic development. However,a large number of by-products are produced in its pro⁃cess, resulting in serious resource waste and environmental pollution. With the rapid development of intensive livestock and poultry production in China, the demand for feed materials rapidly increases, and the problem of the food competition between people and livestock has become more and more prominent.Using tuber by-products to replace grain raw mate⁃rials in animal feed can not only realize the resource utilization of these by-products,but also reduce the large demand for grain raw materials, which is an ideal solution to improve the current issue of humanlivestock competition for grain. This article reviews the current situation of tuber resources, nutrition and anti-nutrient components, processing of tuber by-products,and their application in livestock and poultry production in China, and provides reference and strategy for promoting their application in animal pro⁃duction.
