摘要
大学通用英语教材在大学生跨文化能力培养中具有不可替代的作用。本研究采用内容分析法对一套基于跨文化教育理念编写的大学英语教材呈现的(跨)文化信息进行定量分析。研究结果显示:(1)在文化国别上,教材展现了文化多样性,注重融入本土文化,目标语国家文化和国际文化呈现频次相当;(2)在文化主题上,跨文化交际主题占主导,普遍文化和具体国别文化并重;(3)在文化层面上,文化实践占比最高,文化产品和文化观念依次居后;(4)在文化呈现路径上,教材呈现的文化信息丰富,并重视通过语言练习和文化练习承载文化信息点。文章最后就教材文化呈现提出了外语教材编写和使用建议。
College English textbooks for general purposes are irreplaceable in developing college students’ intercultural competence. The current study employs content analysis to explore(inter)cultural representation in a newly published series of college English textbooks based on the philosophy of intercultural education. The results indicate that:(1) the textbooks show cultural diversity, attach importance to the integration of Chinese cultures, and present target national cultures and international cultures with nearly the same frequency;(2) in the textbooks, the topic of intercultural communication prevails, and both the culture-general and culture-specific topics are included;(3) cultural practice is predominant in terms of cultural levels, followed by cultural products and perspectives;(4) passages carry abundant cultural elements, and language and cultural exercises also play a complementary role in channeling cultural information. Finally, suggestions on(inter)cultural representation are provided for foreign language teaching materials developers and users.
