Julian Barnes’novel England,England fictionalizes the social development of England in the near future,and deconstructs English national characteristics,history and culture.The model of social development and cultural inheritance in the novel is highly consistent with the elaboration of Cultural Memory theory,and therefore the fiction of England’s future seems like a textual experiment of the real social development.With the relevant theories of Cultural Memory,this paper intends to,from the perspective of cultural studies,explore the precise demonstration and profound reflection on the inheritance and maintenance mechanism of British national cultural memory in the novel.
