Taking the core development area in the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration as the research object, this paper selected four periods of remote sensing image interpretation data from 1980 to 2020,combined with DEM data and SPOT-5 high resolution image data, analyzed the function identification and spatiotemporal evolution of“ecological-production-living”of the Central Plains Urban Agglomeration from the aspects of quantity, structure and spatial layout. Results showed that the area of agricultural production land, pasture and other ecological land had decreased significantly in the past 40 years, and land for urban and rural living, industrial and mining production increased rapidly. The spatial distribution of land for urban and rural living and agricultural production had great impact on human social and economic activities. There were significant differences in the spatial evolution of“ecological-production-living”in 159 districts and counties in the study area. The most significant transfer types were agricultural production land to living land and ecological land to agricultural production land.In addition, the proportion of agricultural production land to ecological land and living land to agricultural production land was relatively high.
