Management of decompensated liver cirrhosis in the surgical intensive care unit

Liver cirrhosis is the end-stage of chronic progressive liver diseases(1).The most common causes of cirrhosis worldwide include alcohol-related liver disease,non-alcoholic fatty liver disease,hepatitis B,hepatitis C,autoimmune liver diseases(e.g.,autoimmune hepatitis),cholestatic liver diseases(e.g.,primary biliary cholangitis,primary sclerosing cholangitis),hemochromatosis or Wilsons’disease(1).
