Walking Through the Desert with Soul and Architecture On Design of the Eleven Sand Houses

文章以鄂尔多斯市库布齐沙漠西贝铁军沙漠培训基地的场地为引,梳理回顾了其研讨中心十一间沙屋的设计思考过程.这是一场在内蒙古苍茫大漠起伏的沙谷间追寻精神与心灵的体验,亦是一次在感性与理性中对二元论实践性的探讨,以此追根当代中国西北大漠的建筑如何"生之于沙,而归之于沙".设计在承载"场·域特质"的同时,以不受束于"地域文化符号"的方式,感悟同自然融合和对抗的过程,讨论当代技术与材料如何在场域中走向"新的自我",并在原始而朴拙的形态之中唤醒新沙漠建筑精神的永恒性.

This article reviews the design process of a seminar center for the Tiejun Desert Base of the Xibei Catering Group,a facility located in the Kubuqi Desert of Ordos City in Inner Mongolia,China.To find out how contemporary architecture in northwest China coexists with the environment,this design strives to resonate in the soul of sand by seeking spiritual experience in the vast desert whilst practicing dualism between sensibility and rationality.Rather than being restricted by"regional cultural symbols,"the design advocates the integration and confrontation with nature by combining regional features with genius loci.It usescontemporary technologies and materials to obtainanewwayof self-expression,which leadstoapureand primitive form to evoke eternity that new desertarchitecturecallsfor.
