A Dream of Red Mansions,as one of the Chinese classics,is of great importance to improving students'cultural literacy.The first item in the reading guide of the whole reading unit of A Dream of Red Mansions,in the second volume of the compulsory high school Chinese textbook,is to"grasp the key role of the first five chapters".It can be seen that the combing of the relationship between the first five chapters and the whole book can play a guiding role in the reading of the whole book.Based on the reading strategy analysis of the whole book,we can see that the first five chapters are firmly related to the tragic key,character direction,narrative tone and artistic techniques of the whole book.
