As an Irish writer,Samuel Beckett depicts disease as an indispensable theme in his novels.Deeply influenced by Descartes and existentialist philosophers,Beckett attends to human trauma and pain in his novels and focuses on the marginalized at the bottom of society to reveal the disaster and misery suffered by the Irish people.In addition,Beckett demonstrates the healing power of literary creation.Externalizing the psychological impulses,frustrations and repressed emotions of his protagonists,his works redeem the pathological and destructive self in his personal life.
