Post-traumatic stress disorder(PTSD)is a highly disabling psychological disorder, which seriously damages the physical and mental health of individuals. However, the anti-PTSD effects of traditional drug therapy and psychological intervention is limited. As an emerging neuromodulatory electrical stimulation technology,non-invasive vagus nerve stimulation(nVNS)has a positive effect in alleviating PTSD symptoms and related mood disorders, and the realization of this positive effect mainly depends on the regulation of nVNS on the individual autonomic nervous system, neuroendocrine system, brain function and extinction learning ability.Future research should further explore the potential mechanism of the anti-PTSD effect of nVNS,and promote the combined application of nVNS and other psychological intervention techniques based on the multi-dimensional efficacy evaluation system.
