As a famous foreign sports expert in the history of modern sports in China,Mike Le's thoughts have played an impor-tant role in promoting the transformation of modern physical education in China.Taking McCloy's physical education thought as the research object,this paper uses the methods of text analysis and logical speculation to re-sort and analyze the formation moti-vation,core gist,historical value and practical enlightenment of McCloy's physical education thought.The research holds that the conflict and transcendence between McCloy's sports ideal and realistic dilemma is the formation motivation of his sports edu-cation thought;The theory of natural evolution is the main argument basis of McCloy's physical education thought,and the core viewpoints of McCloy's physical education thought are natural education,life education and personality education.The times value of McCloy's physical education thought lies in providing ideological guidance for the concept renewal of modern sports,laying a theoretical foundation for the emergence of natural sports thought and making outstanding contributions to the successful transformation of modern sports.The realistic enlightenment of McCloy's physical education thought is helpful to prevent chil-dren's physical education from becoming"adults",provide reference for the development of physical education textbooks,and provide basis for the implementation of"taking sports as people"in the new era。
