This paper explains the importance of the leather and product material identification,induces the main research achievements of material identification in recent years in detail.This paper introduces the working principles of four common identification methods:sensory inspection(including combustion method),microscopic identification,infrared spectroscopy and DNA analysis,and analyzes their application conditions and advantages and disadvantages.It also points out the efficient identification idea of leather and product material and puts forward suggestions for the future work,aiming to provide guidance for the industry personnel in the material identification.
