The Use of Ethnic Classics for Instructive Functions and the Enhancement of a Sense of Community for the Chinese Nation

民族古籍是中华民族文化的重要组成部分,与民族语言、民族习俗关系紧密。历史上,它不仅是传统知识的主要载体,也是伦理道德教育的重要媒介。民族古籍以韵文体和散文体的形式记载了各民族的史诗、谜语、谚语、神话、故事、传说等,其中很多内容记载的各民族和睦共生的故事是增强各民族团结的历史印记,是各民族交往交流交融的重要体现。民族古籍承载的内容具有良好的文化教育功能,对人们世界观、人生观、价值观的塑造有着潜移默化的教育作用。

Ethnic classics are an important component of the Chinese ethnic culture,closely related to ethnic languages and customs.Historically they are not only a main vehicle of traditional knowledge imparting but also a significant medium for ethical and moral education.Appearing mainly in rhymed essays or prose essays,they record a variety of ethnic cultural legacies such as epics,riddles,proverbs,mythologies,tales and legends,many of which deal with the harmonious relationship between people of different Chinese ethnicities and thus can serve as evidences of the enhancement of a sense of community for the Chinese nation.It is argued that ethnic classics contain high-quality cultural and instructive functions,conducive to the cultivation of notions of life,value and world.
