Liu Zhenyun's new full-length novel Laughter and Tears:A Novel focuses on three generations of people who were born in,grew up in,died in and fled from Yanjin.Within a span of several decades,the story has been promoted with highly dramatic plots,and the folk elements of opera,legend and mysticism have been added to gain insight into the truth of the underlying life,including the continuous pursuit of“someone with something to say”and the lack of interpersonal understanding,which constructs the writer's own philosophy of life.
