Contemporary Russian writer M.M.Stepanova’s work In Memory of Memory is a new type of composite novel with a unique genre.In this novel,the writer seeks to create the history of her own family by blending it with the national history,memory,literature,and her philosophical reflections,etc.Combining her own family history with the development of national history in the 20th century,M.M.Stepanovna presents a unique private family history based on retrospection and reflections.At the same time,as one of the descendants of Jews,the writer pays special attention to the tragedy that the Jewish community suffered in the 20th century.She recounts history of the suffering and survival of the Jewish people and connects it with the history of her Jewish family.While honoring and paying tribute to her Jewish ancestors in remembrances,M.M.Stepanova provides a new approach to examine history.
