In order to select cutting media that are conducive to cutting survival and rooting, and improve the cutting propagation technology of Celastrus orbiculatus, this experiment compared and studied the survival effects of five different media,namely,sand,peat,vermiculite,peat:perlite=2∶1,peat:vermiculite=1∶1,on the twig cutting of Celastrus orbiculatus. The results showed that the cutting survival rate was the highest with a mixture of peat and perlite 1∶1,and peat, with 90.8%,respectively 86.7%,significantly different from other substrates. The amount of rooting was the highest in peat matrix and the lowest in vermiculite. The average root length is the longest in a 2∶1 mixture of peat and perlite, which is 8.67cm,and the shortest in sand.Due to the different physical and chemical properties of different substrates, the performance of callus induction rate, callus rooting rate, skin rooting rate, decay rate, and rooting rate in cutting varies.Among them, the callus induction rate and callus rooting rate in sand and peat are high, while the decay rate is very low.Through comprehensive comparison, peat is the suitable substrate for cutting young shoots of Celastrus orbiculatus, followed by a mixed substrate of peat:perlite=2∶1.
