A Study of the Group of Translators’Behaviors in Translating Farewell Poems of the Tang Dynasty in the Perspective of Translator Behavior Criticism

摘要 唐人送别诗久负盛誉,在英语世界得到了广泛传播。本文以李白送别诗《送友人》的三个译本为例,对洛威尔、小畑薰良和裘克安三位国内外译者形成的译者群体进行了译者行为批评分析。从翻译外而言,三位译者的身份分别为美国、日本和中国译者,其翻译诗学观和读者接受度存在差异。从翻译内而言,在叙述主体、意象叠加和时间变化三个方面,三位译者的译法也表现出差异性,而行为的差异性,皆源于译者身份、翻译态度和翻译目的等因素的差异,并最终表现为译文务实度的差异。文章最后对总的群体译者行为研究和传统译者行为研究思路进行了讨论。 The farewell poems of the Tang Dynasty have long been well-known and been widely spread in the English-speaking world.This article specifically takes the three translations of Li Bai’s farewell poem song you ren(Seeing Off Friends)as an example,and conducts an analysis of the three translators both at home and abroad,namely Amy Lowell,Shigeyoshi Obata and Qiu Ke’an in the perspective of Translator Behavior Criticism.In terms of extra-translation,the three translators are American,Japanese and Chinese,and their views on translation poetics and reader reception are different.In terms of intra-translation,the three translators’translation methods also show differences in the three aspects of narrative subject,image superposition,and time change,and the differences in behavior result from that of translator’s identity,translation attitude,translation purpose and the like.All the factors eventually contribute to the differences in the degree of Utility-attaining in the versions.In the end,this article discusses the group translator behavior studies and the traditional approaches to translator behavior studies.
