Translation spirit,rooted in translation practice,is the spiritual achievements based on the summarization,reflection,generalization and sublimation of translation practice by translation subjects.It represents the essence and inner values embodied in human translation practice,consisting of such core values as creation,flexibility,practicality,openness,inheritance,and communication.In the Chinese cultural context,translation spirit has yet another meaning,which emphasizes on patriotism and sacrifice for the country.It has implications in respect of translation practice,academic research,translation education and cultural development,thus worthy of further academic study.
