A Brief Study on Shen Zemin's Early Life

针对沈泽民早年生平记述的多个版本,在出生时间、名字、幼年患病和父亲病故、大学入学与辍学时间及其原因等基本信息说法不一的问题上进行考证:1900年5月15日为沈泽民亲笔填写的出生时间,相对更加可信;“德济”乃沈泽民之本名,字泽民,称“德济”为沈泽民原名或学名亦合理;1902年秋天和年末,沈泽民父子相继患病;1905年夏末秋初,沈父病殁;1916年,沈泽民考入河海工程专门学校且有直接证据证明;1919年夏,沈泽民实际已经离校,离校原因更多出于五四运动后遭军阀威胁而迫不得已。

There are multiple versions of the accounts of the early life of the revolutionary Shen Zemin,so research was carried out on issues such as his birthdate,name,childhood illness and his father's death,times of university enrollment and dropout and their reasons.It is found that May 15,1900,the date of birth written by Shen Zemin,is relatively more reliable.“Deji”is his original name,and“Zemin”is his courtesy name,so it is also reasonable to say that“Deji”is his original or registered name.In the autumn of 1902 and at the end of the same year,his father and Shen Zemin himself became ill one after another.In the late summer and early autumn of 1905,his father died of illness.In 1916,Shen Zemin was admitted to Hehai Engineering Specialized School,which can be proved with direct evidence.In the summer of 1919,Shen Zemin,as a matter of fact,had already left the school,mostly due to warlords threats during the May Fourth Movement.
