区域国别学的中国特色塑造

On Shaping the Chinese Characteristics of the Discipline of Area Studies

作为交叉学科门类下新的一级学科,区域国别学具有战略性特征,如何加快构建区域国别学成为摆在中国哲学社会科学工作者面前一个非常迫切的任务。在区域国别学构建进程之初,学界就应高度重视塑造和彰显学科的中国特色。本文认为,学科建设指导思想、学科本质属性、学科研究的世界观与方法论、学科理论创新的本土资源、学科育人功能以及学科发展的制度化安排,是塑造区域国别学中国特色的六大方面。塑造区域国别学的中国特色,并非意味着排斥借鉴西方区域国别研究的优秀做法和部分先进理念。

Area studies has been newly listed among first-tier disciplines in the interdisciplinary category of China.With strategic importance,its development is now an urgent task facing academics,particularly those in in the fields of social sciences and humanities.We argue that in the initial stage of its development,the priority is to determine what are the China's peculiar elements that characterize this discipline.Our analysis shows that the Chinese unique characteristics exist in at least the following six aspects,namely the guiding thoughts,its essential attributes,its methodological orientation,the native resources for theoretical innovations,its role in talent training,and the institutionalized plan for its development.It is also worth stressing that developing the discipline of area studies in a Chinese way does not mean to reject exemplary practices and theories from the west academia.
