Research progress on the concept of thyrothymic ligament and its clinical significance in protecting inferior parathyroid gland

认识胸甲韧带有助于外科医师理解下位甲状旁腺及其周围组织结构的解剖关系。甲状腺手术颈中央区淋巴结清扫中解剖显露胸甲韧带,有助于寻找下位甲状旁腺,提高其发现率,有利于原位保留甲状旁腺及其血供,减少术后暂时性及永久性甲状旁腺功能减退的发生,提高病人的术后生活质量。

The concept of thyrothymic ligament will help surgeons to better understand the anatomical relationship between the inferior parathyroid gland and its surrounding structures.The dissection and exposure of the thyrothymic ligament during a thyroid surgery and central neck dissection will make it easier to identify the inferior parathyroid,preserve the gland and its blood supply in situ,and reduce the incidence of both temporary and permanent hypoparathyroidism after surgery,thus improve patients’quality of life.
