在百年奋斗的各个历史时期,中国共产党领导人民不懈奋斗,不断加深对国家富强、人民幸福的认识,从实际出发诠释社会主义现代化建设的目标。新时代的总任务是实现社会主义现代化和中华民族伟大复兴,在全面建成小康社会的基础上分两步走,在21世纪中叶建成富强、民主、文明、和谐、美丽的社会主义现代化强国。一系列的强国目标是现代化强国总目标的任务分解。其中,科技强国、教育强国和人才强国是现代化强国总体目标和系列强国目标的基础性、战略性支撑。现代化强国对科技创新的核心需求是科技自立自强,应以“七个坚持”为政治原则,以“五大任务”为战略举措,强化科技自立自强对现代化强国的战略支撑。

The Communist Party of China has led the people to strive unremittingly for a strong and prosperous country and the happiness of the people throughout different phases of the Party history over the past century,during which it has deepened the understanding of relevant concepts,thus being able to interpret the goal of socialist modernization from China’s realities.The general task of the new era is to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects and achieve national rejuvenation.That is to say,after achieving the goal of building China into a moderately prosperous society in all respects,we will build a modern socialist country that is prosperous,strong,democratic,civilized,harmonious and beautiful by the middle of this century in two steps.Under the general tasks,a series of specific objectives are set up,among which invigorating China through science and education and developing a strong workforce for the modernization drive is the foundational and strategic support for the overall goal and specific objectives.The core demand for scientific and technological innovation is China’s self-reliance and strength in science and technology.We should take the“seven adherence”as the political principle and the“five major tasks”as strategic measures to achieve high level self-reliance and strength in science and technology so as to provide strong support for the overall goal of building China into a great modern socialist country.
