In contrast to the simplicity of their material culture,Aboriginal intellectual life is quite complex.Aboriginals believe in the existence of"Eternal Dreamtime",and the original harmonious and prosperous state of the world can be perpetuated by reenacting their activities.Traditionally,the arts of the Aboriginals were profuse and varied.Their aesthetic was preeminently sacred in nature,and most Australian art was produced for explicitly religious purposes.It was either used to increase magic or help initiate young people into adulthood.Aboriginal arts have cha nged a lot today.The newly emerging styles and genres combine comp orients of traditional culture with modern elements.This hybridisation has been conditioned by the unequal social position of Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal peoples,with Aboriginal artists utilising art media to defend and strengthen themselves and their culture.
