《诗经》英译史考辨

Exploration of the English Translation History of Shi Jing

《诗经》在英语世界的翻译及传播,已经走过了两个多世纪的历程,其英译一直是中外译者孜孜不倦的追求,各种译本层出不穷,为《诗经》的英译传播和研究提供了可行的途径。现有的《诗经》英译史研究还不够系统和全面,而且还存在不少讹误。该文运用历史分析方法钩沉和考辨《诗经》的英译历史,尝试描绘出《诗经》英译的历史演进轨迹,分转译期、全译期和新时期,总体上总结了《诗经》各个阶段的英译特征,通过详实的考察,更正了以往有关《诗经》英译历史研究方面存在的讹误,增加了以往《诗经》翻译史研究中鲜有提及的英译本资料,为今后《诗经》的研究提供一些新的参考。

More than two centuries has witnessed the translation and spreading of Shi Jing in the English world.Its English translation has always been the tireless pursuit of Chinese and foreign translators.Hence,various translations have emerged,providing a feasible way for the spreading and research of its English translation.However,the existing research on the history of the English translation of Shi Jing is not systematic and comprehensive,and there are still many errors.This paper adopts a historical analysis method to investigate and examine the English translation history of Shi Jing,and tries to depict the historical evolution of its English translation,which is divided into three periods:the indirect translation period,the full translation period and the new period.It summarizes the characteristics of each period in general.Through detailed investigations,it corrects previous errors in the research on the English translation history of Shi Jing,and adds materials that were rarely mentioned in the previous studies,which can provide some new references for future research.
