及物性视角下的《芙蓉镇》英译前后权力关系变化研究——以胡玉音为例

Changes of Power Relations in the English Translation of A Small Town Called Hibiscus From the Perspective of Transitivity:A Case Study of Hu Yuyin

本文基于《芙蓉镇》汉英平行语料库,以及物性系统为依据,提取了所有以胡玉音为参与者的及物性小句,并进行了过程分类和分析讨论,考察及物性变化对英译本中胡玉音所处权力关系的影响并解释原因。研究发现,相较于原文,译文中以胡玉音为参与者的及物性过程发生明显变化,从而导致其在所处权力关系中的地位提升,而这主要源于以下两方面的原因:译者的女性身份和女性主义思想、译者的双重文化身份和读者意识。

Based on Chinese-English Parallel Corpus of A Small Town Called Hibiscus and transitivity system,this paper extracts and classifies all transitivity clauses with Hu Yuyin as the participant in the original and the translation,and researches the impacts of transitivity change on Hu Yuyin’s position in power relations in the translation.Compared with the original,transitivity processes on Hu Yuyin has obviously changed in the translation,which leads to the rise of her status in power relations.This variation is mainly caused by two factors:the translator’s female identity and feminist ideology,and her dual cultural identity and reader consciousness.
