淮安古代刻书考略

A Brief Study of Ancient Engraved Books in Huai'an

古代淮安刻书虽不及江南发达,但是刻书活动出现早,史载早在宋代就有三次刻书之举。元代文化不彰,淮安一地刻书史料阙如。明清两朝,淮安刻书迎来了大发展时期:官府以刊刻方志为主,所辖各府县皆有多次刻书之举;私家刻书则以诗文集为主,为当地文化发展和科举事业服务较多。民国时期,受西方先进印刷术传入的影响,刻书事业渐渐式微。

Although ancient engraved books in Huai'an were less developed than that in the south of the Yangtze River,the engraving activities appeared earlier.According to the historical records,there were three engravings in the Song Dynasty.The culture of the Yuan Dynasty was not prominent,and there were few historical materials engraved in Huai'an.During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Huai'an engraved books ushered in a period of great development.The official government mainly printed local chronicles and all the prefectures and counties under its jurisdiction had engraved books for many times;Private engraved books are mainly poetry collections,which provide more services for local cultural development and imperial examinations.During the period of the Republic of China,under the influence of the introduction of advanced western printing,the engraving business gradually declined.
