Coronary artery calcification(CAC)refers to the sclerosis caused by calcium salt deposition in coronary atherosclerotic plaques. It is a highly specific marker of coronary atherosclerosis. The degree of coronary artery calcification can be quantified and presented as coronary artery calcification score(CACS),which is closely related to cognitive impairment(CI).The pathogenesis and influencing factors between CAC and CI have not been elucidated. This paper reviews the research progress of CAC with CI from the perspective of brain magnetic resonance imaging,in order to further study the neuropathological mechanism of CAC with CI.
