民国学术出版探微——从北平社会调查所的出版说开去

An Exploration of Academic Publishing During the Period of the Republic of China:From the Publication of the Beiping Institute of Social Investigation

本文从笔者获赠的、20世纪30年代林颂河任职北平社会调查所期间参与编辑出版社会学著作的几页会议记录入手,简要回顾民国初年西方社会学著作传入中国的历史。通过梳理北平社会调查所学术著作出版成就,并详细分析这几页珍贵的学术出版史料记载的,赠送作者及编辑样书的原则问题、增加代售书店及代售折扣问题、广告问题等涉及出版发行的内容,提出几点关于民国学术出版的思考:一是民国学术出版为中国现当代学术研究奠基;二是民国学术出版促进了我国现代出版产业和制度形成;三是民国学术出版开启了我国出版为现实服务、为社会服务的先河。

This paper briefly reviews the history of the introduction of Western sociological works into China in the early years of the Republic of China.It starts from a few pages of the meeting minutes in which the author was involved in editing and publishing sociological works during Lin Songhe's tenure at Beiping Institute of Social Investigation in the 1930s.It then provides a short account of how western sociological works were brought into China in the early years of the Republic of China.By reviewing the achievements on academic publishing made by Beiping Institute of Social Investigation,and analyzing the historical data concerning publishing and distribution as recorded in these precious minutes,for example,the principles of editing sample books,the increase in the number of bookstores that sell books on commission,the discount offered to booksellers,and advertising,this paper concluse that academic publishing in the Republic of China laid down the foundation for academic research in subsequent years,promoted the formation of China's modern publishing industry and system,and opened the precedent for publishing in realistic services and social services in China.
