Objective:To study the effect of empowerment education on exclusive breastfeeding and lactation initiation rate of older second-borm parturients.Method:From January 2021 to January 2022,180 cases of second-borm elderly parturients admitted to the obstetrics department of our hospital were randomly selected and divided into two groups by parity number method. The control group(n=90)received routine health education, while the research group(n=90)received empowerment education. The breastfeeding knowledge scale,Empowerment Behavior Maternal Perception Scale scores, postpartum lactation and exclusive breastfeeding were compared between the two groups. Results:After education, compared with the control group, the scores of breastfeeding knowledge and empowerment behavior perception in the research group were higher(P<0.05);The lactation initiation time of the study group was shorter than that of the control group, but the lactation times ol 24h,48h and the lactation initiation rate of 72h were higher in the study group than in the control group(P<0.05).The results showed that the study group was higher than the control group(P<0.05)after 42d,4 months and 6 months of postpartum exclusive breastfeeding. Conclusions:Empowerment education for older second-child parturients can improve their knowledge and behavior of breastfeeding, shorten the start time of post partum lactat ion and extend the time of exclusive breastfeeding, which has high clinical application value.
