数字经济发展对居民消费的影响——来自城市面板数据的经验证据

The Impact of Digital Economy Development on Residents'Consumption:Empirical Evidence from Cities Panel Data

将居民消费问题纳入数字经济的分析框架,研究数字经济发展如何影响居民消费。理论分析发现:数字经济发展会通过降低交易成本、扩大流动性约束等手段影响居民消费。利用数字经济发展数据和手工查找的城乡居民消费数据,对2011—2019年我国263个地级及以上城市数字经济发展的居民消费带动效应进行检验。研究发现:数字经济发展将增加本地人均消费支出,且该结果具有稳健性;数字经济发展对居民消费的影响在地理位置、城市规模、城市层级等层面存在显著的异质性;机制分析结果显示,支付便利性、流动性约束以及家庭不确定性是数字经济发展影响居民消费的重要作用机制;基于城乡不平等视角的扩展研究发现,数字经济发展不仅能显著缩小城乡居民消费差距,而且有利于带动城乡居民消费升级。

In this paper,residents'consumption is included in the analysis framework of digital economy,and how the development of digital economy affects residents^consumption is studied.The theoretical analysis shows that the development of digital economy will affect residents'consumption by reducing transaction costs and expanding liquidity constraints.Using digital economy development data and hand-found urban and rural residents consumption data in China,this paper examines the consumption driving effect of digital economy development of 263 cities at the prefecture level and above in China from 2011 to 2019.The findings are as follows:The development of digital economy will increase local per capita consumption expenditure,and this result is robust The impact of the development of digital economy on residents'consumption is significantly heterogeneous in tenns of geographical location,city size and level.Mechanism analysis results show that payment convenience,liquidity constraints and family uncertainty are important mechanisms of digital economy development affecting residents'consumption.Based on the expanded research from the perspective of urban-rural inequality,it is found that the development of digital economy not only significantly narrows the consumption gap between urban and rural residents,but also promotes the consumption upgrading of urban and rural residents.
